I was born in April 1975, the
youngest in my family. I have two brothers (one of
which my parents had the blessing to adopt) and one
sister. At the age of one I began to show signs of an
illness. For a year the doctors placed me on and off
antibiotics until they discovered a number of kidney
and bladder issues. Following many surgeries the
doctors reported to my family that I would live a
normal life, however, pregnancy would not be an option
later in life. By the age of 8 my siblings had all
left home for college, military, and the Navy. The
positive side to being so much younger was that I had
the awesome responsibility of becoming an Aunt early
on.
At the
age of 13, my father, a college professor, took a job
with a different university moving us north. During my
years of middle school through high school I was
active with gymnastics, dance, and horseback riding.
I enjoyed horses so much, my father invested in one
for the family. After finishing high school, I began
my college career at a private junior college in
Florida. After finishing there in two years, I moved
to Kentucky to finish my education. Keeping myself
healthy had always been a necessity for me, so it was
very fitting that I settled with healthcare as my
major. My mother being a nurse may have also
influenced me in that direction.
Soon
after graduating from college I met Chad through one
of my good friends, his brother. I was immediately
drawn to his positive outlook on life and his ability
to make me smile. After Chad and I married I took a
job managing a fitness facility and worked there for
several years. I recently took a new job with Georgia
Cancer Specialist working from home so I can work part
time once we start our family. Aside from spending
time exercising, I have a passion for decorating our
home, socializing with our friends from church,
camping, and walking our dogs with my husband. I love
cooking and I’m very health conscience, so I really
enjoy coming up with new healthy recipes. Chad’s a
good sport with my experiments in the kitchen.
